Communication, risk and uncertainty
Lenka Vochocová is devoted to political communication in the online environment, theories of the public sphere and their application to the digital era, her starting point is critical theory. It specifically focuses on expressive forms of online participation, the discursive exclusion of various actors in debates on polarizing topics, the representation of marginalized groups in the mediated public sphere, gender aspects of online communication and the interconnectedness of a number of discriminatory factors (intersectionality). In SYRI, he focuses in particular on the spread of anti-system attitudes and anti-liberal rhetoric in online communication about crisis topics (covid-19 pandemic, Russian aggression in Ukraine) and on the role of ideologically anchored imaginary online identities in the spread of these attitudes. He will also study the journalism profession in the context of global crises.
