Crises such as pandemics increase the importance of fiscal policy because of the pressures on public budgets and the widening of income and wealth inequalities. SYRI researchers analyse the macroeconomic consequences of crisis measures in order to characterise optimal fiscal policies during and after crises, taking into account the importance of inequality and heterogeneity. A special scientific topic is the impact on the labour market.
